Grosvenor Group hosted a packed week of activities focused on wellbeing in support of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Team members took part in a range of fun sessions including outdoor yoga lessons, a business-wide table tennis tournament and a quiz and pizza in the office.
A key highlight was an empowering talk from Ella McCrystal, the renowned mental health guru and host of the New Mind podcast.
She explained the link between good mental health and physical wellbeing, which means it is vital to “release yourself from the emotional traps in your body”.
Ella called for a change in the belief that mental health issues only happen to other people, saying everyone needs to be their “authentic self” and be open about any issues they face.
“It is normal to have problems, but it is not healthy to pretend there is nothing wrong,” she said. “By reaching out and sharing, you can find people who understand or who have been through similar experiences.”
To encourage everyone to embrace the theme of sharing and openness, Grosvenor Group held a ‘Kit Kat Day’. This urged people to use the treat’s iconic tagline ‘Have a Break’, to take time away from their desk to rest, recharge and also chat to a colleague they may not have spoken to before.
The week also highlighted the important role played by the mental health first aid team within Grosvenor Group, made up of Emma Batten, Priyam Savani, and Steph Redhead.
Nick Hughes, Grosvenor Group CEO, said: “I am delighted that everyone within the group has embraced the chance to take part this week to engage on such an important issue. Mental health and wellbeing is a vital element of delivering a great work environment. As a family-owned business, we place great importance on looking after our community as well as our customers; employee wellbeing is a critical part of that commitment. The more we open-up dialogue the more we can continue to break down barriers.”
