Appetite for specialist fleet management changes

Specialist fleet management has never been so popular, with an ever-increasing number of companies opting to use the skills, resources and services of dedicated professionals.

However, according to Andy Reed, operations director at Interactive Fleet Management, the appetite for the traditional fleet management services model is also changing with companies with cars and light commercial vehicles seeking an increasingly universal approach.

“We launched Interactive Fleet Management as a new Grosvenor Group company 10 years ago - the aim being to offer a new, and very distinct solution that was different to the contract hire offering from Grosvenor Leasing,” explains Andy.

“At first, Interactive Fleet Management attracted a different type of client compared to Grosvenor, because in essence we were offering a pure fleet management service as opposed to a funded service.

“Yet over time, we’ve seen a convergence of the two propositions, with an increasing number of customers starting to use a combination of both Grosvenor Leasing and Interactive Fleet Management due to the wider benefits this brings.

“The best way to describe Interactive Fleet Management is ‘your very own fleet department’ managing all suppliers, vehicles and drivers on your behalf.

“Many customers using Grosvenor Leasing’s contract hire services are choosing to use Interactive Fleet Management as well, giving them a far more holistic approach and placing all fleet activity in one place. This can even include the management of other contract hire suppliers to help drive down costs and bring all driver contact into one place.

“The other advantage is that by using the Interactive Fleet Management team to oversee all of your cars and light commercial vehicles means your entire fleet can be housed on our OSCAR365 online fleet management system offering
a central portal for all vehicle data and reporting.”

In 2018 Interactive Fleet Management won the BusinessCar Techies award for best fleet management software, thanks to OSCAR 365 which was developed completely in-house by the Grosvenor Group’s software team.

2018 also saw Grosvenor’s 0Zone solution win the best green initiative in fleet in the BusinessCar awards – a service that
helps companies make the smooth transition towards electric and ultra-low emission vehicles. Mark Gallagher, Grosvenor’s green fleet specialist, was subsequently awarded a BVRLA fleet industry hero in 2019 thanks to his pioneering work on the green agenda.

“Not only does the combination of Grosvenor Leasing and Interactive Fleet Management offer our customers a far
more rounded and complete proposition than ever before, the additional ingredients of OSCAR 365, OSCAR Go
(our driver App) and 0Zone make us very unique in our sector,” continued Andy.

“We also have an expert panel, which is another industry first and something we based on the law firm model of having specialists in distinct disciplines.

“The complexity of operating a vehicle fleet is growing and we decided that it would be advantageous for customers to have access to a dedicated panel, offering greater clarity of who to speak to regarding each topic.

“For key issues such as compliance, CO2, taxation, legal, technical, policy, health and safety and many others, the Grosvenor Group’s expert panel is just a phone call, email or LinkedIn message away from answering any question a customer may have.”
